Mainstream Media finally getting it--
We've all heard about the canary in the mine. What we are learning now is that bees, butterflies, and bumble bees are being confused and/or killed by pesticides. The Los Angeles Times printed an article that diesel exhaust could be the element confusing bees and causing them to not pollinate the plants they should.
The Washington Post reports that a study shows butterflies are disappearing in Florida and other pollinators along with them.
Pollution from the Platte River, the Missouri and the Mississippi, the Ohio--all the feeder streams and rivers that run through farming country, has again created a huge "dead spot" in the Gulf of Mexico the size of a state.
Heads up. If hydrogen bombs or sarin gas, or cyber attacks don't do us in, we'll do it to ourselves by polluting ourselves to demise. Maybe the Aztecs did too--nobody knows why they disappeared.
My new novel AS ALL MY FATHERS WERE comes out March 15, 2014 and you can see what pollution does to regular farmers and ranchers and people living on a mighty river.
Have you seen, smelled, or sampled polluted waterways in your part of the world?
