Had a book signing at Barnes & Noble Saturday in Palm Desert. In four hours I sold every book of mine they bought or had in the stacks. Took an hour and a half to get the first book sold but then they went to people from France and an eleven year old reader who bought two, and a world full of new friends and readers.
Several people said they read a lot on their ipad or Kindle or Nook, but they bought my books because they like the feel of a book in their hand. And you know something else? I think they like to see the cover and the author and the blurbs written by other authors and readers too.
Three years ago I seldom got a question about ebooks. Then the field changed and I kept track of how many people asked if my books were also available as ebooks. I got up to 8 one time, but usually I had 3 to 4. Now, I get 1 or 2. They want to see the whole piece is my thinking.
Watch for my new novel, As All My Fathers Were, coming to you in paperback with enough reading to keep you busy for weeks--450 pages. An odyssey along the Platte River in Nebraska.
Keep reading and get your book club to try one of my novels. And whatever you do after you finish reading an authors work, please go on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.com and Goodreads.com and write a review. With a million books a year being published now we need all the support we can get from readers, the banks, government, state, Social Security, Distillers and brewers and horse ranchers. Naw--I just made that last part up. May it go well with you. Alaska Jim
